About High Performers
The high performers featured on myhospitalcare.ca are taken directly from Hospital Report, a chief source for the data featured on this website.
Hospital Report identifies high-performing hospitals within specific areas, such as acute care or rehabilitation. It divides the information further into specific quadrants, and myhospitalcare.ca's high performers list concerns itself only with data found in the quadrants of patient satisfaction/client perspectives and clinical utilization and outcomes (which looks at performance from the point of view of readmissions, adverse events and appropriateness of care, to name a few).
Assessing relative hospital performance by calculating statistical significants and confidence intervals ensures that the data used to determine high performers has been risk-adjusted and that they have been considered in appropriate contexts.
It is important to note that no hospital is ever a high performer across all quadrants. In other words, good performance in one quadrant does not necessarily mean good performance in another.
